The Greenhouse Vision
The idea for the greenhouse is that it would be used for many different populations of students on our campus. It is readily integrated into the biology and environmental science courses, but the uses reach far beyond that. Students in the cooking classes could utilize the greenhouse to grow produce, math classes for statistics and art classes for inspiration. Beyond that, the grounds crew could grow plants to help to continue to beautify the Voorhees campus. Perhaps our most exciting endeavor is to allow our multiply disabled students to have real, hands-on application that can be integrated into job skills and occupational therapy.

Special Education ApplicationsWith the huge success of the Peer Leadership and Unified programs at Voorhees, we look at this as another opportunity to bring our regular education and multiply disabled programs together. The greenhouse would provide an environment where students can work alongside each other to re-inforce job skills, occupational therapy and a combined love of gardening. |
